NFC Forum Forges Collaborative Links with EMVCo, GSM Association and Smart Card Alliance

WAKEFIELD, Mass., USA — February 9, 2010 – The NFC Forum (http://www.nfc-forum.org), a non-profit industry association that advances the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, today announced it has formed liaisons with three industry-leading organizations key to the NFC global ecosystem: EMVCo, the GSM Association and the Smart Card Alliance. These liaisons broaden and strengthen the NFC Forum’s collaborative ties with key associations and standards bodies across the NFC ecosystem. As a first step in the liaisons, the Forum has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with each organization that outlines how they will collaborate to further the development of the NFC market and NFC-based solutions.

NFC Forum Announces Specifications to Support Peer-to-Peer Device Communication and Verify Data Authenticity

WAKEFIELD, Mass., USA – Jan. 26, 2010 – The NFC Forum, (http://www.nfc-forum.org), a non-profit industry association that advances the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, today announced the adoption and release of the Logical Link Control Protocol (LLCP) specification, which supports bi-directional communications between NFC-compliant devices. The organization also announced the new NFC Signature Record Type Definition (RTD) candidate specification, which defines how to digitally sign data records in NFC Data Exchange Format (NDEF) messages. NFC Forum Calls for Breakthrough Solutions for Annual Competition

Now in its fourth year, the Competition promotes the development and deployment of innovative and exemplary NFC services by both commercial and academic developers. The Competition has historically attracted scores of global entries spanning application areas as diverse as healthcare, mobile social media, hospitality, online banking and support for the disabled.

NFC Forum Advances Mission at All-Members Meeting in Finland

Wakefield, Mass., USA – September 21, 2009 – The NFC Forum (http://www.nfc-forum.org), a non-profit industry association that advances the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, today announced accomplishments from its recent all-members meeting in Oulu, Finland. Highlights of the event, which took place from August 29-September 6, included: a Plugfest at which NFC Forum member companies successfully tested the interoperability of their technologies with those of their peers; a validation test of the Forum’s Logical Link Control Protocol (LLCP) candidate specification; a well-attended Spotlight Session for Developers; and the selection of two test tool vendors, AT4 wireless and Integri, to partner with the Forum in developing compliance testing equipment. Representatives from 150 NFC Forum member companies gathered at the face-to-face meeting in Oulu.

NFC Forum and Mobey Forum Collaborate to Boost Mobile Payment Standardization

OULU, Finland – August 31, 2009 – The NFC Forum (http://www.nfc-forum.org), a non-profit industry association that advances the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, and the Mobey Forum (http://www.mobeyforum.org/), a global financial industry forum whose mission is to facilitate the offering by banks of mobile financial services, today announced a Memorandum of Understanding between the two groups. Under the provisions of the agreement, the NFC Forum and the Mobey Forum will work together to further ongoing efforts to create open standards that enable the delivery of services that provide secure and interoperable mobile financial transactions.

Near Field Communication (NFC) Forum to Hold Spotlight Session for Developers

NFC Forum and ETSI Create Partnership to Promote Global Interoperability

INSIDE Contactless Joins NFC Forum Board of Directors
