NFC Forum Hosts First Spotlight Event: Transport and City Life Applications

WAKEFIELD, Mass., USA June 10, 2008 — The NFC Forum (www.nfc-forum.org), a non-profit industry association that advances the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, holds its first Spotlight conference today to discuss and demonstrate NFC transport and city life applications. The program features presentations by NFC Forum Vice Chairman Gerhard Romen of Nokia, Dr. Wolf Heine of T-Systems and other representatives of organizations that have deployed NFC projects around the world. Demonstrations and a moderated panel discussion are also on the agenda. Open to NFC Forum members and invited guests, the afternoon event takes place at the LivingXXL restaurant in Frankfurt’s Eurotower.

Extended Deadline – Touching the Future: NFC Forum Global Competition

The new deadline allows an additional two weeks for competition entrants to develop and submit final proposals.

Near Field Communication Forum Begins Work On Host Controller Interface Specification

WAKEFIELD, Mass., July 9, 2007 — The NFC Forum, a non-profit industry association advancing Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, announced today that it has begun work to develop a specification for a Host Controller Interface (HCI) between NFC contactless controllers and electronic devices’ application processors. The HCI specification is planned for release in 2008.

NFC Forum Chairman Christophe Duverne To Speak At Cartes & IDentification 2007 Launch Conference On June 5

WAKEFIELD, Mass., USA June 4, 2007 — The NFC Forum (www.nfc-forum.org) today announced that its chairman, Christophe Duverne, also senior vice president and general manager, Identification Business, NXP Semiconductors, will participate in a roundtable discussion with other industry leaders at the CARTES & IDentification launch conference, “Mobile and Contactless Applications,” on June 5, 2007 in Paris, France. Prior to the roundtable discussion, Mr. Duverne will present an overview of the NFC Forum, as well as NFC technology and its applications. Open to the press only, the Mobile and Contactless Application roundtable discussion will address important topics relevant to NFC and contactless technologies.
