Near Field Communication (NFC) Forum Announces San Francisco Spotlight Session for Developers
One-day Educational Conference on NFC Technology to Take Place November 5, 2010
WAKEFIELD, Mass., USA – Oct. 6, 2010 – The NFC Forum (https://www.https://nfc-forum.org), a non-profit industry association that advances the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, today announced that it is holding a one-day Spotlight Session for Developers from 10AM to 4PM on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, California. This is one in a continuing series of events that brings application developers face to face with top NFC experts to gain practical knowledge, pursue networking opportunities, and get hands-on training.
Over the course of the day, attendees will:
- Learn about the market for NFC, sample use cases already deployed in more than 100 projects around the world and highlights of NFC Forum Global Competition winners
- Hear about the status of the NFC Forum technical specifications, learn how they fit into the overall architecture, and get a preview of new work on application development
- Preview the upcoming certification program
- Receive hands-on training on developer tools and APIs available for creating NFC applications on Nokia devices
- Receive an overview of the Android NFC API from a roundtable of industry leaders
- Hear from a panel of experts about best practices based on recent implementations

The Spotlight Session takes place during the NFC Forum all-members meeting in San Francisco, November 1-5. During the week-long event, representatives from the 130 NFC Forum member organizations converge to advance initiatives focused on bringing Near Field Communication-enabled products and services to market. Held three times a year in locations around the world, the face-to-face meetings give NFC Forum committee, working group, and task force members the opportunity to meet in more than 40 working sessions.
Attendance at the NFC Forum Spotlight Session for Developers is open to all NFC application developers and those interested in learning more about the latest developments in NFC from the organization driving standards. Costs for the event, including lunch, are as follows: USD $75 for NFC Forum members; USD $250 for non-members; and USD $50 for students.
