Test tools part of NFC based mobile payment infrastructure project

Brussels 6 July 2010– Clear2Pay, the international technology provider of next generation payment solutions for financial institutions, announces today that the Korea Electric Testing Institute (KETI), a leading organization dedicated to enhance the safety and quality of electric and electronic products, selected Clear2Pay’s Integri test tools for the testing of digital communication between Near Field Communication (NFC) devices.

A key condition for the commercial success of the promising NFC technology is the interoperable interconnectivity between devices and tags. To facilitate this, the NFC Forum provided specifications with which NFC equipment must comply. The NFC Forum selected Integri tools as official test solution for the validation of NFC implementations at communication and timing levels (digital protocol layers).

KETI supplies key testing technologies and certification services for companies in South-Korea. The “corporate-style” institute is keen on helping to introduce cutting-edge mobile payment infrastructures based on NFC technology. Clear2Pay delivered three different tools that enable KETI to validate NFC devices:

  • Listen Device Test Suite: covers all NFC Forum test cases where the NFC-enabled device behaves like a (passive-target) contactless tag.
  • Poll Device Test Suite: covers all NFC Forum test cases where the NFC-enabled device behaves like a (active-initiator) contactless terminal, allowing to communicate with an NFC tag
  • Peer-to-Peer Device Test Suite: covers all NFC Forum test cases where two NFC-enabled devices transfer data in active or passive mode and in target or initiator way.

These tools are essential for the validation of products based on NFC Forum specifications and enable to go-to-market fast with secure, interoperable and high quality solutions. The Integri test suites are targeted for use by official NFC Forum certification laboratories, and will be available for the market’s debugging and in-house pre-certification needs.

Seon-ho kim, President, KETI states “We are devoted to support the market with state-of-the-art technologies that contribute to our country’s industrial growth. We selected Clear2Pay because they build on many years of expertise in mobile and payment technologies with products based on one single, open platform enabling us to ramp up on additional services. Also, the fact that the same Integri test tools are to be used by laboratories to officially certify our NFC devices, makes Clear2Pay the obvious partner of choice.”

Jean de Crane, Chief Operating Officer at Clear2Pay says “The mobile phone has become an essential, very personal device and if equipped with NFC technology, it is bound to bring a genuine revolution to the consumer’s daily payment experience. Following our recent selection by the NFC Forum as test technology provider, we are pleased to work with another pioneer such as KETI to implement universal standards and participate in the global take-up of next generation mobile payment products.”
