Grace Period for CR14/TR14.0
The NFC Forum announces that the Grace Period for Certification Release 14 (CR14) is 36 months following the launch of Certification Release 15 (CR15) on October 17, 2025.
As a result, the CR14 Grace Period will end on October 17, 2028.
During this period, products may continue to be certified under CR14. This allows manufacturers, test laboratories, and implementers adequate time to complete current projects and transition their development and certification activities to CR15.
After October 17, 2028, CR14 will no longer be accepted for new certification submissions, and all new products must comply with the CR15 or any latest active certification release.
It is important to note that, for automotive device classes, the grace period is always 72 months, independent of the Certification Release. Similarly, after October 17, 2031, CR14 will no longer be accepted for new certification submissions of automotive device classes.
The NFC Forum encourages implementers to begin planning their migration to CR15 to ensure continued compliance and alignment with the most up‑to‑date NFC specifications.
