NFC Forum’s Certification Release includes NFC Certification for Car Connectivity Consortium Digital Key

WAKEFIELD, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– The Near Field Communication (NFC) Forum, the global standards-body for NFC technology, announced today Certification Release 13 (CR13) that, for the first time, adds certification for the automotive car access NFC use case as specified by the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC). CR13 enables users to unlock and start their vehicle with a smartphone even if the battery is dead. This certification will support CCC’s Digital Key releases 2 and 3. In addition, NFC wireless charging will also be available in the first quarter of 2022 as part of this release.
