20th Anniversary Celebration

 

The NFC Forum was formed in 2004 by Nokia, Sony, and NXP Semiconductors. Shown above are the contributors to an early Technical Meeting hosted by Nokia near Helsinki 2004. Over the past two decades, the organization has built community and defined standards on top of the ISO standards with Test Specifications to ensure maximum compatibility across all implementations of NFC technology - most notably wearables and mobile handsets.  Now in 2024, the organization has over 700 members and hundreds of Certified Complaint Products.

About the Gift

The handmade blown glass paperweight was designed by artist Tyler Kimball of Monarch Glass Studio in Kansas City, Missouri. The design incorporates the organizations' color pallet twisted into a wave pattern provocative of radio ways. The NFC tag on the base serves as both a connection to this page on the NFC Forum website but also protects the art and surfaces.
