Start Your Engines! VISIONFC Automotive Summit To Focus On NFC In Automobiles
Speakers From Audi, Car Connectivity Consortium, Continental Automotive, Daimler And More
Stuttgart, Germany is arguably the birthplace of the gasoline-powered automobile. Depending on which side you take, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach invented the first gasoline-powered engine for automobiles 133 years ago or Karl Benz in 1886 was first when he patented gasoline-powered vehicles.
What is undeniable is that Stuttgart was one of the early places where automotive innovation was first ignited and took hold. Today, Stuttgart remains an innovation hub and center of excellence for automotive engineering.
Innovation will also be the theme June 25, 2019 when the NFC Forum presents an all-day VISONFC Automotive Summit at the Stuttgart Technology Center, Strasse 61 D-70327 with speakers from some of the most influential and iconic automotive companies in the world.
Organized by the NFC Forum’s Automotive Task Force, VISIONFC is a public event with the objective to educate people on the possibilities of NFC and create a place for innovators to share ideas and solutions and network with their peers. The summit (see agenda below) will feature live NFC demonstrations from Daimler and Audi. The event is free to NFC Forum members attending the NFC Forum Members Meeting and $99 USD for non-NFC Forum members.

Why Near Field Communication (NFC) and the Automobile Industry?
NFC technology enables simple and safe two-way interactions between electronic devices, allowing consumers to perform contactless transactions, access digital content and connect electronic devices with a single tap. It enables devices to share information at a distance of less than 10 centimeters. It has become a standard feature on smartphones — and there are two billion NFC-enabled devices in use today on the planet.

All the major car manufacturers and OEMs plan to include NFC in upcoming models. NFC can be used to unlock and start a car with a smartphone and it can be paired with Bluetooth for using a headset, customizing the vehicle’s entertainment or cabin comfort features. The list of the features and functionality NFC adds to an automobile is only limited by an engineer’s imagination.
