Fully compostable eco-friendly paper and copper RFID antennas
Today, RFID antennas are mainly etched aluminum on PET, which are not degradable and not recyclable. There are multiple attempts to create antennas without the plastics, but these are limited to antennas that have low resolution and thus cannot cover HF and very small antennas and furthermore the aluminum is non-degradable. The antennas are printed copper on paper. These are fully compostable and cheaper than the etched antenna. Each antenna is made of compostable paper and copper traces which have the same amount of copper as in three chocolate bars. Just 6mg of copper which is equivalent to the amount of copper in 0.5 of Kale or few gallons of drinking water.

Digital Recycling Solution
Waste is a real issue in modern society and companies want to do their part by recovering products by re-introducing raw materials into the value chain and out of nature, essentially moving towards a circular economy. It has been proven that traditional Deposit Recovery Schemes (DRS) increases waste collection and recycling by involving the consumers through monetary incentives.
Digital Recycling is a modern version of the traditional (DRS) which enables consumers to get rewarded and/or compensated for recycling their empty packages directly via an app on their smart phones.
The solution consists of:
- Serialized products (RFID labels with unique identifiers bought from various suppliers e.g. Avery Dennison, Toppan, Boingtech, Identiv, HID, Pragmatic etc..).
- Smart bins that can read the RFID tags
- A consumer App that counts all recycled containers and rewards consumers
- A custom-built back-end web platform.
- A reward scheme that can vary from monetary to rewards (coupons, tickets, digital points etc…)
With Digital Recycling we want increase and optimize collection rates, educate and engage consumers & help companies achieve their zero waste goals.

WRÅD: P.E.A.S. Project – Blockchain in the fashion industry for a more responsible purchase
Product Education Accountability System – PEAS – is a research and development project led by WRÅD.
The goal of this project is to implement with the help of NFC technology, a system that can educate the customer on the impact the usage of clothing has on the environment and trace in a simple and immediate way the origins and originality of a garment. The information on the clothing item – from the cultivation of the raw material to all the uses and re-uses after marketing – will be made available to the consumer through an NFC TAG device, which will allow and facilitate the reading directly on a smartphone with the help of an application designed and developed by 1TrueID.
The guarantee of the authenticity of the data will be certified by applying the Block Chain method throughout the supply chain, for a full product visibility and as a mean against counterfeiting, increasing this way the B2B and final costumer’s loyalty.
The implementation of a system of rewards, awards valuable cryptocurrency to the “links” part of the blockchain for their transparency, conscious and sustainable approach towards the society and environment.

Stroke Configuration with TapNLink NFC & Mobile Apps for HVAC Systems
HVAC equipment manufacturers must rapidly meet challenges of new regulations aimed at improving end-user control of energy consumption. In systems like electric radiators, this used to be done with on-board control panels for setting a daily/hourly heating schedule.
Very often, these on-board controls were not used because:
- Their logic was specific to each manufacturer and incomprehensible to many users
- Key controls were difficult to use and made programming laborious
Mobile apps and NFC offer manufacturers a solution thanks to TapNLink NFC wireless modules and their 3-StrokeTM configuration model. With TapNLink NFC, configuration is done in a three-step process – Recuperate – Modify – Configure:
- User approaches a mobile to TapNLink on the appliance, automatically launching the app and recuperates the current set of parameters from the appliance.
- User views the configuration on the mobile app and makes any desired changes.
- User approaches the mobile to TapNLink and configures the appliance with the changed parameters.
TapNLink vastly simplifies implementation for manufacturers with:
- Instant integration of NFC in their original electronics
- Pre-implemented NFC design including security, access control
- Implementation by configuration only
- Automatic generation of mobile apps (Android, iOS)
Identiv & CollectID
collectID: NFC-based product authentication ecosystem allowing users to easily authenticate and trade products
collectID safeguards consumers from accidentally buying counterfeit products and allows them to collect beloved items and trade them easily with their smartphone.
collectID helps brands guarantee the authenticity of their products at any time by creating a digital twin of the products on the blockchain. Through a transparent, immutable history of every product, valuable first-party data about the owners are gained.
Various products (i.e., sneaker shoes, streetwear, sports collectibles, or wine bottles) are equipped with collectID NFC chips, providing a unique secure message that changes with each interaction. This makes it impossible to duplicate the chip. Additionally, the chip is tamper-proof and any foul play would destroy it.
Users can check the authenticity of a product with a simple tap on their smartphone and register the ownership via the collectID app. The items appear in their personal portfolios. This makes theft prevention and insurance processing cost-efficient and easy.
NFC components used:
- NFC tags are attached to products, we use various models of NFC tags and chips, depending on the product
- NFC tag reader is used by brands and resellers to scan an NFC tag and assign it to a product

Panthronics
Panthronics PTX100W for enhanced NFC wireless charging
The technology of wireless charging has the wind in its sails. The trend to embed wireless charging capability into consumer devices has been led by the Wireless Power Consortium’s (WPC) Qi charging standard, which is the most widely adopted technology for the wireless charging of smartphones.
For various reasons, the Qi technology is poorly suited to the charging of very small or wearable devices such as activity-tracking wristbands, wireless earphones or smart glasses. One seemingly ideal alternative is NFC, the technology behind contactless payments and ticketing, since another of the inherent features of NFC, alongside data communication, is energy harvesting.
Yet despite the almost universal provision of NFC functionality in smartphones, NFC charging has been implemented in only a handful of small devices: this is because the power transmitted by the poller – typically less than 1W at the antenna – limits the scope to charge devices which have a larger battery capacity.
Now, however, the Panthronics NFC architecture promises to more than double the power that can be supplied via an NFC connection, while also providing a reduction in component count, bill-of-materials cost and system size.
Wizway Solutions
Wizway Solutions, mobile ticketing at its best
NFC is a predominant technology in transport industry: over the past 20 years, NFC contactless transit cards have brought significant improvements in terms of traveler convenience and operators’ performance, on the major cities all over the world.
More recently, NFC mobile technology has taken off, this spread being driven by the strong growth of payment solutions: NFC’s “tap and go” allows both simplicity and security for a great user experience. This is exactly what is needed for mobile ticketing in Transit!
So far, Public Transport lags in the digital realm and rarely offers the possibility of buying and storing tickets/passes on a mobile phone. To tackle this issue, Wizway has developed an innovative approach to bridge Transit ecosystem and NFC Mobile: make it accessible to any PTO to transform NFC smartphones into contactless tickets or passes.
Wizway proposes a solution to digitize transit cards into travellers’ NFC smartphones, and manages secure access for 1 or more transit mobile applications. Wizway manages also the digital card lifecycle (loss, theft, change of …), and maintains the solution’s compatibility with all phones types.
For PTO, it’s simple and fast to implement, just integrating the Wizway’s API into their mobile apps.

ReadID
The big iOS 13 change for NFC was the ability to read passport chips. Verifying people’s identity is essential in preventing identity fraud and enabling trustworthy digital services. ReadID is the first and leading solution for verifying identity documents using smartphones’ NFC. The combination of identity documents with contactless chips and NFC-capable smartphones is the cornerstone of ReadID. ReadID was the first identity document verification app available in general, and on iOS 13 specifically. Application areas include secure mobile onboarding (KYC), identity document verification by police forces and qualified signatures.
We went live with UK’s EU Settlement scheme in weeks after the iOS 13 release. ReadID is also live for onboarding to banks, for example, for the second largest Dutch bank Rabobank.
Many passports, identity cards and other identity documents contain an RFID chip, which ReadID reads to verify the authenticity of these documents. The chip contains reliable personal information about the holder, including the full name, date of birth and nationality. In addition, it contains a high-resolution face image, suitable for face matching as a second step. With iOS 13 bringing NFC to third party developers, ReadID is now available on iPhone, with a quick and smooth user experience.

NFC Tools for Android
NFC Tools for Android is an app which allows you to read, write and program tasks on your NFC chips. All you need to do is get your device close to an NFC chip to read the data on it or execute tasks.
Simple and intuitive, NFC Tools can record standard information on your tags which will be compatible with any NFC device. For instance, you can store a VCARD to share your contact details easily, open an URL, share a phone number or even a geolocation.
But the NFC Tools app goes further and allows you to program tasks on your NFC tags in order to automate actions that were once boringly repetitive. Turn on the Bluetooth, set an alarm, control the volume, share a WiFi network configuration and so much more.
For example, a simple motion with your phone in front of your NFC tag before going to sleep and the WiFi will turn off, the phone will switch to silence and your alarm will be set for the next morning, all by itself.
Preset variables, conditions and root tasks are also available so you can create more complex actions.
