TTA appointed as an NFC Forum Authorized Test Lab
For release: 02 Jun 2011
June 2, 2011 – As of May 23, 2011, TTA (Telecommunications Technology Association) became an NFC Forum Authorized Test Laboratory capable of offering NFC Forum testing services. Near Field Communication (NFC) is a short range wireless connectivity technology operating at 13.56 MHz and transferring date up to 424 kb/s. The NFC Forum, a non-profit industry association that advances the use of NFC technology, launched its Certification Program in December 2010. The first step in the certification process is to submit NFC-equipped devices to an NFC Forum Authorized Test Laboratory for conformance testing, and Forum members who are device manufacturers can subsequently submit the test results to the NFC Forum Certification Administrator to demonstrate their products’ compliance with NFC Forum technical specifications.
This designation of the NFC Forum Authorized Test Laboratory enables TTA to provide a complete one-stop testing service to handset manufacturers with proven experiences in conducting conformance and interoperability tests for leading edge wireless and cellular technologies including CGF/PTCRB, WiMAX, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB along with regulatory testing.
Mr. Joo, Vice-President of TTA said, “We are very glad to hear that TTA has successfully applied to be an NFC Forum Authorized Test Lab. We believe that NFC technology will be a key competence in mobile payment and mobile commerce industry, so the NFC Forum certification is definitely going to be a must-get mark to NFC equipped smart phone manufacturers in Korea such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics. TTA is currently building up a test bed based on the first wave certification program and getting ready to provide testing services within a couple of months. Working closely with the NFC Forum, we will continue to follow up as the NFC Forum Certification Program rolls out.”
