Arnaud Schreiner of NXP Semiconductors Declared Winner Of The NFC Champion Award And This Month’s Member Spotlight
Arnaud Schreiner was NFC’s most recent recipient of the Champion Award. The NFC Forum Champion Award recognizes members who have shown great dedication and contribution to the NFC Forums efforts. We spoke with Arnaud to get to know him better and give him an opportunity to share his experiences with us. Here is what Arnaud had to say.

The NFC Forum unveiled CR12 recently the first industry independent certification program for contactless standards that enables manufacturers of contactless devices to proof conformance to newly harmonized contactless specifications. The journey to get to the launch of the certification program was challenging but, ultimately, its success is very rewarding as the resulting improved user experience will positively impact the over two billion smartphone owners in the world.

The NFC Forum recently announced the winners of the NFC Forum Innovation award, which is awarded to companies who have made significant contributions in some way to the NFC field through development of NFC products. This year’s winner in the category of the Most Innovative Use of NFC is IoTize SAS for their 3-Stroke Configuration with TapNLink NFC & Mobile Apps for HVAC Systems. Marketing and Communication Manager Steve Gussenhoven took the time to sit down and talk about Iotize’s product and what this award means to the company. Here’s what he had to say:

Transact recently won the NFC Forum Innovation Award in the category of Best-in-Market NFC Implementation for their work with universities implementing the use of student IDs for a safe return to campus this fall. The NFC Innovation Award is given to a company who promotes the use of NFC through either new product development or implementation in an innovative way. We all know that Near Field Communication, or NFC, is a technological standard based on radio-frequency identification (or RFID), which doesn’t require an internal power supply to operate. NFC can transmit information wirelessly over short distances. Now, you might recognize NFC as the same technology that allows secure payments from mobile pay systems (i.e. Google Pay, Samsung Pay and Apple Pay); this is known as “contactless” payment. Already popular, use of contactless forms of payment have skyrocketed over the last year fueled by the current pandemic.
